Reader Question

I received an email from a reader asking about matchups and I thought I would pass it along for everyone. Do you do your own match ups or do you work with other bloggers? I personally do my match ups right now but have considered finding another blogger or a couple bloggers to work with because there are stores that we do not have in my area that readers do have. What are your thoughts about this?

Do you want to have a referral contest with another site? It is a great way to get readers to your blog. As blog owners we all know that emails can get crazy and we don't want yours to get lost.

Animal food drive

I am working on an animal food drive in my area and on my blog. I am curious if anyone would be interested in doing this with me. I am selecting an animal shelter in my area http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifthat we will be donating food to here and if others wanted to join in other areas you could select a shelter there as well. We could have a specific time frame for people in the area to drop off food to us and on the decided date we could all take pics and weigh the food we have received to get a total of how much we are donating to shelters across the United States. While we are collecting food we can all post deals that we find about food and coupons. Here is the link I have about the food drive on my page. Please let me know if you are interested. I wanted to take a moment and share with everyone I feature that I have on my blog that I LOVE. It is the print friendly button. When I do my coupon matchups readers can go to the print friendly button and customize their own list. Here is a video I put together showing how it works. Affiliate programs for you

If you have not signed up for affiliate programs I recommend doing so. I have made a list of ones I use and really like each one. You can get the information HERE With the affiliate programs you are notified of new coupons, freebies, deals and you get paid when people sign up or register for products that are offered. You will most likely not get rich from these programs but it is nice to see something in your coupon fund. Please let me know if you have other affiliate programs you would like to share and recommend.

Real time or delayed?

How do you post your blogs? We all know it takes time to get all the posts published that we need to get out there for everyone. So how do you do it? Do you sit at the computer all day waiting for things to show up and post them or do you take time and make all your posts for the day?

I do a little of both. I have recently began writing all of my posts and scheduling them through the day. I also have my email notifications go to my phone. When an affiliate lets me know about a new promotion I get an email and can get it written up and posted. I was spending so much time on my computer looking for deals and waiting that I was not getting other things done. With 5 kids, school, 2 blogs and a house cleaning business I need to make things as easy as I can and scheduling posts helps a lot.

Discouraged?

Did you realize how much went in to running a coupon blog? Do you have the amount of readers you wanted. I really hoped I would set up my blog and within a few days have thousands of readers. That is not happening. I have some pretty big competition I guess with these blogs that have 20,000 , 100,000 even 200,000 readers. What in the world am I doing wrong? Why can I not get that amount of readership? These are all questions I ask myself and am curious, am I the only one? Does anyone else wonder what they are doing wrong? Or what can I do to make it better? I am going to keep pushing and trying new things and even if I help a few people then I am doing my job but what about money. I am curious how many of us start this to make money? I personally started because I wanted to help people and if I make some extra on the side then great but not a necessity however now that I put so much time in it I am feeling a little discouraged because I am not seeing results either with money or readers. I have said since the beginning of coupon blogger central I do not know it all. I am not here to teach all of you but to work together and learn myself even. I really just wanted a place for us all to get together and ask any questions so here is mine to you. How long did it take to get your blog going to where you felt it was successful. How much do you make off of it each month (if you don't mind sharing) so that those with expectations can know if they are reasonable expectations. Also how much time do you put in to your blog? I really hope everyone gets involved in this discussion because I think this information could benefit a lot of us. Coupon database

Do you have a coupon database on your site? There is a fantastic one available @ Moneysavingmom.com. You can either use the free one which is wonderful for starting out or the affiliate one which is $25.00 month. If you have the traffic to your site I recommend the pay for one so you can get paid for clicks by your readers. If you are just starting out I would use the free one to see what kind of readership you are getting.
